Heavy rains are wreaking havoc in Tamil Nadu these days. Due to continuous rains at many places in the southern districts of the state, flood-like conditions have arisen. The situation is that 10 people died due to heavy rains. Many areas have been completely submerged due to heavy rains. Due to which life has been badly affected. At the same time, the water level of many rivers and lakes of the state has increased significantly. At the same time, 250 soldiers of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed for relief and rescue.

The situation is worse in these districts

The situation is worsening due to continuous rain in Tamil Nadu. The situation has become worst in the four coastal districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Tenkasi. In view of the flood like situation here, 250 soldiers of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in these districts. The soldiers have sent more than 7500 people out of their homes to the relief camps set up by the state government. Let us tell you that in the last two days, 1150 mm rainfall has been recorded in South Tamil Nadu. Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts have received maximum rainfall. In the last 30 hours, Kayalpattinam received 11 saul 86 mm rainfall, while Tiruchendur received 921 mm rainfall.

Meanwhile, all 809 train passengers stranded in Srivaikuntam, a flooded area near Thoothukudi in southern Tamil Nadu, were rescued on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain cloudy for the next 24 hours and there is a possibility of moderate rain in some areas. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.

So much rain in 100 years history

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said that the southern districts of the state received as much rainfall in a year in a single day and floods occurred. This year, in its 100-year history, the southern districts have suffered the most damage due to heavy rains. Therefore, there is a need to release Rs 2000 crore from the Disaster Relief Fund to provide necessary assistance to the people of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts.
