Government launched portal
New Delhi: Important information has come to light regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The Union Home Ministry on Tuesday ‘launched’ a portal for people eligible to apply for Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. An official spokesperson has given this information. The government’s move comes a day after it notified rules for the implementation of CAA 2019.
What did the spokesperson say?
The spokesperson said, ‘Under CAA-2019, Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024 have been notified and a new portal has been launched.’ The spokesperson said that eligible persons under CAA-2019 can apply for citizenship on this portal.
A mobile app ‘CAA-2019’ will also be released soon to facilitate application through mobile ‘app’. The Center on Monday notified rules for implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
These laws allow non-Muslim immigrants from Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian communities who came to India before December 31, 2014 from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to grant Indian citizenship. (input language)
