Government should accept the demands of farmers, should not procrastinate, Jagjit Singh Dallewal demanded – India TV Hindi

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, before his talks with Union Ministers here on Sunday, said that the Central Government should not adopt the policy of procrastination and should accept the demands of the farmers before the code of conduct is implemented. Lok Sabha elections can be announced next month. A meeting is to be held in the evening between three Union ministers and farmer leaders on various demands including legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops and farm loan waiver. This meeting is to be held at a time when thousands of farmers are standing in Shambhu and Khanauri on the border of Punjab and Haryana with their various demands and a large number of security forces are deployed to stop them from entering the national capital. Earlier, talks were held between farmer leaders and three Union Ministers on February 8, 12 and 15, which remained inconclusive.

What did farmer leader Dallewal say?

Dallewal told reporters at the Shambhu border, “We want to tell the government not to adopt the policy of procrastination.” He said that if the government feels that it will continue the meetings till the code of conduct is implemented and then say That the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented and we can’t do anything (yet) “Farmers will not return,” he said. “The government should find a solution to our demands before implementing the Model Code of Conduct,” he said. That the meeting between the two sides will start at 5:30 pm.

Today is the sixth day of farmers’ protest

The farmer leader said that the agitation is not sponsored by any political party, and also reiterated his demand to bring an ordinance to give legal guarantee of MSP for crops and implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission. Another farmer leader Surjit Singh Phool accused the Center of not fulfilling its assurance of releasing detained farmers and restoring internet services and social media accounts of farmer leaders in some areas of Punjab. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Arjun Munda, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai will hold a meeting with farmer leaders. Today is the sixth day of the farmers’ ‘Dilli Chalo’ march.
