Guwahati Lok Sabha seat: Will BJP’s Rani Oja be able to become ‘queen’ again? – India TV Hindi

Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency is one of the total 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rani Oja became MP from here by winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Guwahati is the capital of Assam as well as a trade center and port. It is situated on the banks of Brahmaputra river. Guwahati is the largest district not only of Assam but of the entire North East. You can also estimate how big Guwahati is from the fact that it has a total of 10 assembly seats. 40 percent of the urban population lives in Guwahati seat.

Guwahati Lok Sabha seat consists of 10 assembly constituencies. There are 10,77,865 male voters here and the number of female voters is 11,03,376. Whereas third gender voters are 78. The total number of voters in Guwahati in 2019 was 17,63,757, out of which male voters were 8,99,023 and female voters were 8,62,213. If we look at the figures, there was a total of 80.86 percent voting here in the 2019 elections. In the last election, BJP’s Queen Oja had secured 10,08,936 votes from here. The main contest on this seat is between BJP and Congress.

If we talk about the caste equation, then about 60 percent of the population in Guwahati Lok Sabha seat of Assam is rural and 40 percent is urban. According to the 2011 census, the total population here is 29,61,618.

Talking about Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, BJP’s Rani Oja had become MP from here in the last elections. Oja had defeated Congress’s Bobita Sarma by 3 lakh 45 thousand votes in the 2019 elections. Let us tell you that there are a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, out of which BJP has 9, Congress has 3, AIUDF has 1 and Independent has 1 seat.

If we look at the results of 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Bijoy Chakraborty had won from Guwahati in the elections for the 16th Lok Sabha. Bijoy Chakraborty had defeated Manas Baroh of Congress. BJP’s Bijoy had won by more than 3 lakh 15 thousand votes. There was 78.67 percent voting here in the 2014 elections.
