Tejas fighter jet will replace MiG 21

India is going to deploy the first squadron of Tejas fighter jet in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The first squadron of Tejas Mark 1A fighter jets will be deployed at Nal airbase which is adjacent to the border with Pakistan. Pakistan’s Bahawalpur military base is near it. The first Tejas Mark 1A aircraft are going to be delivered in the early months of 2024. These brand new aircraft will replace the MiG-21 which is now obsolete.

At least two squadrons of the older version of Tejas have already been inducted into the Army. They have recently been deployed on the northern and western borders. The new Tejas Mark 1A aircraft are more powerful than the old ones and are equipped with deadly missiles. These aircraft are equipped with the capability to cause destruction anywhere in Pakistan. Along with sending terrorists inside the Indian border, Pakistan is also sending weapons and drugs to the Indian border with the help of Turkish drones.

Know the features of Tejas Mk-1A fighter jet

  • The Tejas MK-1A fighter jet is 43.4 feet long. Its height is 14.5 feet.
  • Tejas MK-1A fighter jet carries 2458 kg of fuel.
  • Its maximum speed is 1980 kilometers per hour. That means one and a half times more than the speed of sound.
  • Can reach a maximum altitude of 53 thousand km. Having a glass cockpit makes it easier for the pilot to see all around.
  • It is a small and multi-role supersonic fighter aircraft. There are eight hardpoints in it. That means 8 different types of weapons can be used.
  • Pods of S-8 rockets can be installed in it.
  • Air-to-air missiles R-73, I-Derby, Python-5 are installed. ASRAAM, Astra Mark 1 and R-77 are planned in the future.
  • Air-to-surface missiles KH-59ME, KH-59L, KH-59T, AASM-Hammer are installed. There are plans to deploy BrahMos-NG ALCM.
  • Anti-radiation missile Rudram will be installed in it. At present it is equipped with anti-ship missiles KH-35 and KH-59MK.

Pakistan’s Ababil missile capable of carrying nuclear bomb

Recently, Pakistan tested the nuclear bomb-launching missile Ababeel on October 18. This missile is capable of carrying multiple nuclear bombs simultaneously. However, it remains doubtful whether this test has been successful or not. However, Pakistan has also deployed cannon that can fire nuclear bombs on the Indian border. Ababeel missile is still in the development stage in Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan had tested Shaheen missile in April 2022. The Swallow test was the first test of Asim Munir after becoming the Army Chief.

A squadron of MiG-21 is deployed at Nal airbase. With the deployment of Tejas MK-1A fighter jet, the MiG-21, known as the Flying Coffin, can be removed. The Air Force wants to replace its old MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-27, Mirage-2000 and JugR fleet with Tejas.
