Indian Air Force plane went missing over the Bay of Bengal 8 years ago, now it is known

New Delhi: Indian Air Force aircraft AN-32, which went missing 8 years ago over the Bay of Bengal, has been located. Scientists of the National Institute of Ocean Technology have located the wreckage of the plane with great effort and using techniques. The wreckage of the plane is lying at a depth of about 3400 meters in the sea.

The plane went missing on 22 July 2016

On July 22, 2016, this aircraft of the Indian Air Force went missing during an operational mission. A total of 29 people were on board the plane. This plane suddenly disappeared. Even after a long search operation in the sea, no trace of the plane was found. Now scientists of the National Institute of Ocean Technology have located the wreckage of the plane.

AUV equipped with high technology detected the debris

Scientists from the National Institute of Ocean Technology, working under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, deployed an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) in the deep sea to the site of the disappearance of the AN-32 aircraft. It is a vehicle equipped with special technical capabilities. Using multiple payloads including multi beam sonar, synthetic aperture sonar and high resolution photography, the wreckage of the crashed aircraft was finally located at a depth of 3400 meters under the sea.

Debris found at a distance of about 310 km from Chennai coast

The place where the debris was found in the Bay of Bengal is located at a distance of about 310 km from the coast of Chennai. After all the analysis, it was found that this debris belonged to the crashed aircraft AN-32. Because there is no report of any other plane crashing or missing in that area.
