Uttara Kannada (Karnataka): BJP MP and former Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde has given controversial statements on the death of former PM Indira Gandhi and Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi. Hegde said, ‘Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi were cursed for cow slaughter. Indira Gandhi was shot dead on the day of Gopashtami. This was the result of a curse given by the revered ascetic Karpatri Maharaj during an important movement for the ban on cow slaughter.’
Anant Kumar Hegde gave this statement in a program in Kumta on Saturday and said that when Indira Gandhi was the PM, there was a big movement regarding the ban on cow slaughter.
Cows were slaughtered in Indira’s presence: MP
He said, ‘When Indira Gandhi was the then Prime Minister, there was a big movement regarding the ban on cow slaughter. Dozens of saints were killed and many saints were murdered in this movement. Cows were slaughtered in the presence of Indira Gandhi, hundreds of cows were shot dead. The great ascetic Karpatri Maharaj had cursed Indira Gandhi.
What curse did Karpatri Maharaj give? MP told
He said, ‘Karpatri Maharaj had cursed that your dynasty will be destroyed on the day of Gopashtami itself. Sanjay Gandhi died in a plane crash on the day of Gopashtami and Indira Gandhi was also shot dead on the day of Gopashtami.’
