India’s most advanced weather satellite INSAT-3DS has been successfully launched.

Sriharikota: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) once again created history by successfully launching the country’s most advanced weather satellite INSAT 3DS. ISRO launched the third generation weather forecasting satellite ‘INSAT-3DS’ with a GSLV rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Giving information about the satellite weighing 2,274 kg, launched from the 51.7 meter long GSLV-F14 rocket, ISRO said that it will serve various departments under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, including the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). This is ISRO’s second mission in 2024 after the successful launch of PSLV-C58/Exposet mission on January 1.

Established in desired orbit 20 minutes after launching

After its launch today at exactly 5.35 pm, the satellite was placed in the desired orbit after about 20 minutes of flight. The last satellite of this series, INSAT-3DR, was launched on 8 September 2016. Various departments under the Ministry of Earth Sciences such as India Meteorological Department, National Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Indian National Ocean Information Services Center and various other agencies and institutions are engaged in improving weather forecasting and meteorological Will use data from INSAT-3DS satellite to provide services.

What is the purpose of launching INSAT 3DS?

INSAT 3DS is India’s third generation meteorological satellite and is fully funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences. It is designed for advanced meteorological observations and monitoring of land and ocean surfaces for weather forecasting and disaster warning. With the help of this satellite it will be possible to make more accurate weather predictions. INSAT 3DS will provide vertical profiles of various meteorological parameters of the atmosphere. Also, with the help of this satellite of ISRO, the earth’s surface can be monitored more accurately.
