New Delhi: Amidst various political speculations, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is coming to Delhi today. The National Executive meeting of Janata Dal United is going to be held in Delhi only. Although this meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow but before that he will meet the members of the National Executive today. Nitish Kumar is angry with his party’s national president Lalan Singh and there may be discussion on removing him from the post of party president. According to sources, many JDU leaders are not liking the way Lalan Singh talks about Lalu-Tejashwi and RJD more than JDU and Nitish Kumar these days and they have complained about it to Nitish Kumar.

Actually, there are reports of Nitish Kumar returning to the NDA once again in the political corridors. However, JDU has termed these things as baseless and rumours. But the kind of developments that have taken place in recent times are indicating some big movement. Nitish Kumar is known to take big decisions very quietly and does not let anyone know about it.

Nitish Kumar will meet the members of JDU National Executive in Delhi today and there is a meeting of the National Executive of the party tomorrow. It is being speculated that there may be talks on removing Lalan Singh. However, Nitish Kumar on Monday rejected speculations that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was suggested to be made the prime ministerial face at the opposition ‘India’ alliance meeting in Delhi last week and he was not made the convenor of the alliance. He was “disappointed” and he is “angry” about it. He said, “I did not feel any disappointment, no anger.”

Regarding Kharge’s name being proposed by Delhi and West Bengal chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee respectively, Nitish said, “The issue (of a leader’s name) came up in the meeting. I had made it clear in the beginning itself that we have no wishes of our own. We want everyone to move together. Then another name was proposed, I said it is fine for this.” The JDU leader’s opponents in the BJP-led NDA had criticized the development, claiming that Aam Aadmi Party chief Kejriwal and Trinamool Congress supremo Banerjee had actually Nitish’s alleged ambitions for the post of Prime Minister have been sidelined.

In the press conference addressed by Kharge after the meeting of the India Alliance, the Congress President had expressed his desire to keep the issue of the Prime Minister’s face on the back burner and had stressed that the India Alliance must first get sufficient numbers in the Lok Sabha. There is a need to win seats. When asked about his alleged insistence on Nitish to finalize the seat distribution by January, he said, “Yes, I had said that the seat distribution should be finalized as soon as possible.” I have expressed my views on this earlier also. I am confident that this will be done in all the states at the right time.” (input-language)
