Jharkhand government’s decision, 56 prisoners serving life sentence will be released

Jharkhand government has decided to release 56 prisoners serving life imprisonment in various jails of the state. The government on Wednesday decided to release 56 prisoners after reviewing a total of 109 cases. This decision was taken in the meeting of Jharkhand State Sentence Revision Board chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

“56 prisoners serving life sentences in various jails of the state will be released. During the review, opinions of the courts, superintendents of police of the respective districts, jail superintendents and district probation officers were taken,” the Chief Minister’s Secretariat said in a statement. In the 30th meeting of the Board, Hemant Soren stressed the need for constant monitoring of the prisoners to be released.

1831 prisoners were released in the 29th meeting

Along with this, the Chief Minister directed the officials to work towards their proper rehabilitation and connect them with various government schemes, so that they remain in the mainstream. The statement said that in the meeting, Chief Minister Soren was told that till the 29th meeting of the Jharkhand State Sentence Revision Board, 1831 prisoners had been released.
