NCP Sharad Pawar faction leader Jitendra Awhad has come under severe attack by calling Lord Shri Ram a non-vegetarian. Saints including BJP, Ajit Pawar faction and Shinde faction have also demanded action on Awhad. Even Jitendra Awhad’s own party leaders are advising him not to say such things during the election season. In such a situation, Awhad came on the back foot and apologized for his statement, but still the ruckus is not stopping.
What did Awhad say?
Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Pawar faction’s fair is going on in Shirdi. In this fair, Jitendra Awhad said in a meeting with the journalists, “Prabhu Shri Ram was a non-vegetarian, the 14 years he spent in exile, the one who spent in the forest, did he have to eat there? What would have been found in it? We are following the path of Lord Shri Ram.” Since then there is an uproar over this statement of Jitendra Awhad.
Awhad apologized
Seeing himself surrounded from all sides, Jitendra Awhad has apologized for his statement. Awhad said, “If anyone’s sentiments have been hurt by my statement yesterday, I express my regret.” Sharad faction leader Eknath Khadse has also advised Awhad not to make controversial statements. He said that it may be right to say this from Awhad’s point of view but it cannot be the statement of the party. In the election environment, one should avoid making such controversial statements; spend your energy on other important issues.
Demand for continuous action
BJP leader Ram Kadam has filed a complaint in Mumbai against NCP Sharad Pawar faction leader Jitendra Awhad for his statement calling Lord Ram a non-vegetarian. Apart from this, VHP and saints in Panchvati of Nashik have demanded the arrest of Awhad and have given a written complaint in the police station.
