Snowfall in Kedarnath Dham
Winter has started showing its effects in Uttarakhand. The snowfall on the mountains has now increased the cold in the plains as well. It is freezing cold in the morning and evening and the sun is shining in the plains during the day. Fog has started spreading in the morning and evening. As predicted by the Meteorological Department, snow has covered the Himalayan mountain range. It has snowed heavily for the first time this autumn. Life has also been affected due to heavy snowfall on the upper hills in Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar districts.
It has been snowing in Chardham since Tuesday afternoon. Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, Tungnath, Madmaheshwar, Harsil, Uttarkashi and Auli areas are also covered with snow. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the mountains on Wednesday.

Today the temperature in Kedarnath Dham has reached minus 7 degrees. The mercury has gone below zero in Gangotri-Yamunotri also. It is extremely cold due to cloud cover in the lower areas. The cold has increased so much that the workers doing reconstruction work are melting the snow and drinking water. Water has frozen in the taps.

Kedarnath Dham was cloudy since morning on Tuesday, due to which the temperature reached minus eight degrees. Snowfall started in the Dham in the afternoon which continued till late evening. Due to cold in Kedarnath Dham, the laborers living here are facing severe cold. At the same time, the temperature in Badrinath was maximum -1 and minimum -8 degrees, in Auli it was maximum 3, minimum -3 and in Joshimath it was maximum 9, minimum -2.

These days it is extremely cold in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. In Harshil Valley of Uttarkashi district, due to cold, the water of small springs and drains has started freezing.
