BegusaraiAlthough there are 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, but among these, Begusarai seat is very special. A total of 7 assembly seats come under Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency. These include Cheriya Bariyarpur, Bachhwara, Teghra, Matihani, Sahebpur Kamal, Begusarai and Bakhri assembly seats. After delimitation, Begusarai Lok Sabha seat came into existence in the year 2009. Although this area has been called the stronghold of Congress and Communist Party, but for the last ten years, Bharatiya Janata Party MPs have been elected here and are going to Parliament. The total number of voters here is around 18 lakh. The population of this area mainly depends on work like farming and animal husbandry. Apart from this, the issue of setting up industries here also remains a subject in the elections.

In the Lok Sabha elections 2014, voting was conducted in six phases in Bihar, in which elections were held in the third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth phases. Talking about Begusarai Lok Sabha seat, voting was held here on 30 April 2014 under the seventh phase. In this election, while Bharatiya Janata Party had made Dr. Bhola Singh its candidate, RJD candidate Mohammad Tanveer Hasan was fully prepared to give him a tough fight. When the votes were counted after voting on May 16, BJP candidate Dr. Bhola Singh got 428227 votes, while his rival RJD candidate Mohammad Tanveer Hasan got 369892 votes. In this way, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the people of Begusarai elected Dr. Bhola Singh and sent him to Parliament.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, voting was conducted in all seven phases on all the seats of Bihar. In this, voting was held on April 29 under the fourth phase for Begusarai Lok Sabha seat. This time in the elections, while Bharatiya Janata Party gave ticket to veteran leader Giriraj Singh, RJD again expressed confidence in Mohammad Tanveer Hasan, while Communist Party of India played a big gamble in this election by giving ticket to Kanhaiya Kumar. However, after voting on April 29, when the votes were counted on May 23, BJP got 692193 votes, while Communist Party of India got 269976 votes, apart from this, RJD had to be satisfied with 198,233 votes. In the 2019 elections, BJP once again got a big victory in Begusarai seat and the people here elected Giriraj Singh and sent him to the Lok Sabha.

What does the politics of Begusarai say?

If we talk about Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency, there are only a few businesses in the name of industry. Apart from this, the people here mainly do farming and animal husbandry. Whereas after delimitation in 2009, for the first time, Monajir Hasan from JDU went to Parliament by getting elected from this seat, whereas in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr. Bhola Singh won, apart from this, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections also, the BJP candidate Giriraj Singh registered victory here. If we talk about before delimitation, then since independence, this area has mostly been dominated by Congress or Communist Party of India.
