Lok Sabha elections: Priyanka’s name not in the first list of Congress – India TV Hindi

Suspense continues as Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s election spoils

Today Congress has released the list of its 39 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Rahul Gandhi’s name is in this list, but he will contest elections from Wayanad in Kerala and not from Amethi. Priyanka Gandhi’s name is not in the first list of Congress. This time, Congress has kept the entire focus on South in its first list. North seats are missing from the Congress list. There is no UP, Bihar and Maharashtra either. In the first list, the focus has been on Chhattisgarh and southern states only. Apart from Rahul Gandhi, the names of many senior leaders including Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel are included in this list.

Suspense continues on Priyanka Gandhi contesting elections

Rahul Gandhi’s name was finalized at the top in the first list of Congress but sister Priyanka Gandhi’s name was nowhere to be seen. There is speculation that Priyanka Gandhi may contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh. Rae Bareli seat is considered the stronghold of Gandhi family. However, Priyanka Gandhi’s name is not in the list released today by Congress. Therefore, there is still suspense over Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi contesting the Lok Sabha elections. Let us tell you that Priyanka Gandhi had to face defeat in the UP assembly elections. Now after Sonia Gandhi joining Rajya Sabha, Rae Bareli seat has become vacant. But Congress has still created suspense regarding Priyanka Gandhi’s claim from Rae Bareli.

Seats of Shashi Tharoor and Venugopal also declared

Shashi Tharoor will contest from Thiruvananthapuram. Shreyas Patel from Hassan, Karnataka and DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural have been given tickets. According to this list, Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal will contest from Alappuzha in Kerala and former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel will contest from Rajnandgaon seat in Chhattisgarh. Jyotsna Mahant from Korba and Rajendra Sahu from Durg in Chhattisgarh have been made candidates. Whereas from Chhattisgarh, Shivkumar Dahria from Janjgir, Vikas Upadhyay from Raipur and Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasammad of Chhattisgarh are being fielded.

It is noteworthy that in the first list of Congress candidates, 15 candidates are from general category and 24 are from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class and minority communities. The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress on Thursday approved the names of candidates for about 40 seats in Chhattisgarh, Kerala and many other states for the Lok Sabha elections. A few days before this list of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had released the list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
