Mahua Moitra’s troubles increased

The Directorate of Estates (DOE) on Monday issued a show cause notice to former Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for not vacating the government bungalow. Sources in the Ministry of Urban Housing and Urban Development gave this information. Let us inform that the Trinamool Congress leader was expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 last year and after that she was asked to vacate the government bungalow by January 7 as her allotment had been cancelled.

In this matter, DOE has now asked them to respond to the show cause notice in three days. Sources said, “A show cause notice has been issued to Mahua Moitra, in which her reply has been sought within three days as to why she has not yet vacated her government bungalow.”

Was asked to vacate the bungalow on January 7

The Delhi High Court had on January 4 asked the Trinamool leader to stay in the government accommodation allotted to him and approach the DoE. The Trinamool leader had challenged the instruction to vacate the government bungalow by January 7 due to the cancellation of allotment after his expulsion from the Lok Sabha. Hearing this, Justice Subramanian Prasad said that according to the rules, in exceptional circumstances, the authorities can allow a person to stay for six months on payment of fees.

Court had given permission to Mahua

The court allowed Moitra to withdraw her plea and said it had no comment on the merits of the case. It said that the Estate Directorate will take a decision in this matter at its discretion. It said the law mandates issuance of notice before eviction of a resident and the government has to take steps to evict the petitioner in accordance with law.

Mahua Moitra was held guilty of “immoral conduct” and expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8, 2023 for allegedly accepting gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani and sharing her user ID and password of the Parliament website with him. Was.
