Major attack on SP office in Manipur, hundreds of people set fire to the premises – India TV Hindi

The violence that has been going on in Manipur for the last several months is not ending. Last night, chaos was once again seen in Churachandpur district of the state. Here a mob of 300 to 400 people attacked the SP office and set fire to the entire premises. The mob entered the government premises, set vehicles on fire and vandalized them. In fact, a head constable of the district police has allegedly been seen in a video with armed men. After this video surfaced, the head constable has been suspended by the department. After this, a ruckus was seen in the SP office.

What is the whole matter?

According to PTI report, an eyewitness has said that Churachandpur SP Shivanand Surve had suspended the head constable of the Kuki community after he was seen with armed men. A crowd gathered in front of Churachandpur SP office at around 7.40 pm soon after the suspension order went viral in various social media groups. The mob tried to attack the office of the Superintendent of Police and pelted stones. Police say that security forces are trying to control the situation. The situation remains very delicate.

More than 30 people injured

Police said several buses and trucks used by security forces were burnt by protesters who were mobbed by hundreds of people. Security forces fired several tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. There is news of one person’s death in this entire violence. At the same time, 30 more people are also said to be injured.

Churachandpur police has suspended one of its head constables after he was allegedly seen with armed men in a video. SP Shivanand Surve has suspended Head Constable Siyamlalpaul with immediate effect until further orders. The department has said that this action amounts to serious misconduct as a member of a disciplined police force. A departmental inquiry against the head constable is also being considered.
