Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP of being opponents of social justice and secularism over the statement of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anant Kumar Hegde. He claimed that there is talk of 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections so that the Constitution can be changed. The Congress President said that BJP intends to change the Constitution by getting a huge majority. They have no contribution in achieving independence for the country. He also opposed the tricolor. Even today RSS displays its saffron flag but does not give much importance to the national flag.

“They are against social justice”

Mallikarjun Kharge said, “I have to say with great sadness that the Constitution has not been completely accepted by the BJP. On one hand the Prime Minister says that the Constitution will not be changed, on the other hand he tells his people that you two- Give a third majority, we will change the Constitution. This speaker is a fringe element, isn’t he? Because they are against social justice and against whatever word secular came into existence. Mohan Bhagwat is against reservation. Sometimes he talks about merit. Do you ever talk about stopping reservation? This is a bad mentality, it will create an uproar in the country. Reservation for SC-ST was given in the Constitution, now what do you want to change?”

“I would say that you people are ‘Manuvadi'”

Kharge claimed, “BJP wants to change the Constitution, that is why they are talking about crossing 400. You do not want social justice. I would say that you people are ‘Manuvadis’.” He said, “We raised the issue of VVPAT with the Election Commission, we say that 100% of the votes cast should be counted.” On the electoral bond issue, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “From which person did you take (electoral bond). What contracts were given to him. What kind of income tax exemption was given to him, what kind of benefits were given to him. We want to investigate that.” That’s not what you’re giving.”

“Want to hide electoral bonds till elections”

He said, “They want to hide the electoral bonds till the elections, whatever will happen after the elections remains to be seen. If the intention is clear then they can tell.” Taking aim at PM Modi, he said, “Nowadays he has left Hindi. Nowadays he is speaking in all languages, not leaving even a single language.” Let us tell you that BJP MP Hegde had said on Sunday that BJP will amend the Constitution to remove the word ‘secular’ from the Preamble. He had called upon the people to give two-thirds majority to BJP in the Lok Sabha, so that the Constitution of the country could be amended. BJP has termed Hegde’s statement as his ‘personal views’.
