There was dense fog in many states of North India on Tuesday morning and visibility was zero at many places. The Meteorological Department said that on Tuesday morning there was very dense fog in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, cold wave conditions persisted in most parts of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi. The lowest temperature was 1.1 degrees Celsius recorded in Hisar, Haryana.

Severe winter is falling in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, on January 16, the lowest minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius was recorded in Ludhiana (Punjab) in the plains of the country. The Safdarjung Observatory in the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the minimum temperature over northwest India is likely to rise gradually by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next four to five days. The IMD said minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius over eastern India during the next four to five days.

Cold day alert for next 24 hours

The Meteorological Department said that there will be a cold day in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Wednesday. Cold wave conditions are likely at some places in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and at isolated places in Rajasthan on January 17. According to the Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail over many parts of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi for a few hours on the morning of January 17 and 18.

According to information received, around 30 flights departing from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were delayed, while 17 flights were canceled due to weather conditions. At 8:30 am today, 25 meter visibility was recorded in Ayanagar and Safdarjung in the national capital, while 50 meter visibility was recorded in Ridge and Palam areas. According to the India Meteorological Department, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh recorded 0 meter visibility at 5:30 am today, while state capital Lucknow recorded 25 meter visibility. Visibility was recorded at 50 meters in Gwalior in West Madhya Pradesh.

Dense fog was also seen in West Rajasthan and Bihar. Visibility was 50 meters in Ganganagar and 200 meters was recorded at Purnia railway stations. Dense fog blanketed East Madhya Pradesh at 8.30 am today and visibility was 50 meters at Khajuraho, Satna and Rewa stations.
