Many states of North India are experiencing severe winter. Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, had the coldest morning of this season. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius. There was dense fog in many states including Delhi, UP, Haryana, Punjab and Assam on Wednesday morning. People are taking help of bonfire to escape the cold. According to the information given by the Meteorological Department on the Recorded between 4 to 8 degrees Celsius. The mercury has fallen to 11-12 degrees Celsius in many cities including Guwahati in Assam.

Minimum temperature in Amritsar was 4.9, Patiala 6, Ambala 8, Hisar 6.6, Karnal 6.1, Delhi’s Lodhi Road 6.7, UP’s Meerut 7.9, Bihar’s Gaya 6.1, Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa 6.6, Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur recorded 5.3 degrees Celsius and Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi recorded 4.2 degrees Celsius.

Dense fog was seen in the national capital Delhi this morning. The minimum temperature in the entire NCR including Delhi and Noida was recorded around 7.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning. The maximum temperature during the day may remain around 23 degrees Celsius. During this period the air quality remained in ‘poor’ category.

Temperature below freezing point in Mount Abu

In Rajasthan’s hilly tourist destination Mount Abu, the minimum temperature remained below the freezing point for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday and the mercury dropped to one degree Celsius. In Mount Abu, layers of snow were seen on the grass, flowers, leaves and windshields of vehicles. Tourists who reached the tourist spot were seen walking around in warm clothes, enjoying the winter weather. Elsewhere in the state, winter has taken hold with night temperatures dropping by two to three degrees Celsius. A spokesperson of the Meteorological Department said that due to the effect of a weak western disturbance on December 22, there is a possibility of cloudy sky in some parts of the state. During this period, there is a possibility of light rain or drizzle at isolated places in Jodhpur, Bikaner division and Shekhawati region. The probability of rain in the remaining parts is very less. He said that there is a possibility of a slight drop in the minimum temperature from December 23-24 and the weather will remain mainly dry in most parts of the state.

The oppression of cold continues in Kashmir

The minimum night temperature across Kashmir was recorded several degrees Celsius below the freezing point, causing a lot of trouble to the people. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius on Monday night, down 4.2 degrees Celsius from 0.5 degrees Celsius the previous night, officials said. Meteorologists have predicted dry weather in the valley for the next few days.
