More than 1.5 lakh people declared foreigners in Assam, CM Hemant Biswa made many more revelations – India TV Hindi

Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sharma has made a big announcement. He informed on Monday that a total of 1.59 lakh people have been declared foreigners in Assam. At the same time, about 96,000 people in Assam have been kept in the category of doubtful i.e. D voters. CM Sharma also has the state home department. He pointed out that 100 Foreigners Tribunals (FTs), which deal with the issue of citizenship of D-voters in the state, are currently functioning in the state.

More than 96 thousand cases pending

Assam CM Hemant Biswa was answering the question of opposition party AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam in the Assembly on Monday. The Chief Minister has informed the Assembly that the tribunals have declared 1,59,353 people as foreigners in the state till December 31, 2023. He informed that the Foreigners (Citizens) Tribunal has disposed of 3,37,186 cases till the end of last year and 96,149 cases are pending in various tribunals.

More than 96 thousand doubtful voters

CM Hemant Biswa, while replying to a question by Congress MLA Sharman Ali Ahmed, told in the Assembly that according to the data, as of today there are 96,987 doubtful voters in the state. The Chief Minister said that 41,275 doubtful voters are yet to receive the notice from the Foreigners (Citizens) Tribunal.
