More than Rs 100 crore cash found in income tax raid
The Income Tax Department team has recovered a huge amount of cash from the premises of Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Dheeraj Prasad Sahu. The Income Tax Department team of Odisha has conducted this raid on the information of tax evasion. More than Rs 100 crore in cash is reported to have been recovered in the Income Tax Department’s two-day raid at the residences of Sahu’s close friends and relatives. According to Income Tax Department sources, maximum cash has been recovered from the locations of Boudh Distillery Private Limited (BDPL) in Odisha. Many machines have been installed to count the notes. The Income Tax Department has also simultaneously raided half a dozen locations of MP Sahu in Ranchi, Lohardaga and Odisha. Apart from this, raids are going on at some places in Bengal also.
Many companies are in the name of relatives of Dheeraj Sahu
Apart from the documents related to income and expenditure, what else has been found in the raid is not yet clear. There are many companies in the name of Dheeraj Sahu’s relatives in Odisha. These include Baldev Sahu Infra Private Limited (Fly Ash Bricks), Kwality Bottlers Private Limited and Kishore Prasad Vijay Prasad Beverages Private Limited. Bottling of foreign liquor is done in Kwality Bottlers Private Limited.
The matter is related to tax evasion
Whereas, foreign liquor is marketed by Kishore Prasad Vijay Prasad Beverages Private Limited. Dheeraj Prasad Sahu is also a director in some of these companies. This entire case of Income Tax raid is related to tax evasion in liquor business. Dheeraj Sahu comes from a prominent business and political family of Jharkhand. He has been elected to Rajya Sabha twice from Congress. (Input- IANS)
