NIA conducts massive raids against PLFI in four states, many shocking items including army uniform recovered

NIA conducted raids against PLFI in four states.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday launched a raid operation in four states against the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI). During this period NIA arrested two accused. An Indian Army uniform along with arms, ammunition, incriminating equipment and documents, cash and jewelery were also seized from them. The accused and suspects against whom the NIA has taken action today were all cadres and supporters of the banned terrorist organization PLFI in Jharkhand. All of them were involved in the conspiracy to commit violent incidents and carry out terrorist activities.

Searched at 23 places

As part of the NIA action today, a total of 23 places linked to banned organizations and accused were searched in Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. These included searches at 19 locations in Jharkhand (Gumla, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Palamu and West Singhbhum districts), one location each in Bihar (Patna district) and Madhya Pradesh (Siddhi district) and two locations in New Delhi. The two arrested during the raid have been identified as Raman Kumar Sonu alias Sonu Pandit from Bihar and Nivesh Kumar from South-West district of Delhi. Both the accused have been named in the FIR lodged by the NIA in a case related to extortion/extortion by leaders, cadres and supporters of PLFI in various states of India.

Army uniform and other items recovered

During the search by NIA, incriminating material including two pistols, live cartridges (7.86 mm), Indian currency, three lakh rupees in cash, digital devices (mobile phones, SIM cards, pen drives, DVRs) and documents (diaries and a bunch of papers) were recovered. The material was recovered. Along with this, gold and silver jewelery and army uniform were also seized. The NIA had registered a case under various sections of the IPC and UA(P) Act, 1967 on October 11, 2023, after receiving information about financing of terrorist activities through extortion by PLFI cadres.

Used to raise money through extortion

The NIA investigation so far has revealed that cadres of the banned organization were involved in raising funds through extortion from various coal traders, transporters, railway contractors and traders in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. They were also conspiring to carry out various terrorist activities including attacks on security forces, murder, arson and use of explosives/IEDs to create terror in the society. According to the investigation, apart from extortion, the PLFI cadre were also involved in other nefarious activities, such as procurement of arms and ammunition. The investigation also revealed that PLFI leaders, cadres and supporters were conspiring to revive and expand the organization in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and other PLFI affected states.
