Congress party’s Rahul Gandhi Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is going on. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will now start protest in Kolkata from Friday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will stage a protest from Friday in protest against the Centre’s alleged withholding of state dues. The issue of alleged withholding of dues by the Centre, especially under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), has turned into a major political controversy in the state. A senior Trinamool Congress leader said, “The protest will start at 1 pm at the ground in Red Road area. Our party chief Mamata Banerjee will lead the protest. Other senior leaders of the party will also be present.
There was a protest in Delhi also
Earlier, Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee along with a group of party MLAs, MPs, ministers and MNREGA workers had demonstrated at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and staged a five-day sit-in outside the Raj Bhavan here. A similar two-day dharna was held under the leadership of Banerjee in March last year. According to Trinamool sources, this dharna is the third major protest on this issue before the Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that the budget session of West Bengal will begin from February 5 and the protest is likely to continue till then.
