The Mumbai Trans Harbor Link, the country’s longest sea bridge, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has given this information on Sunday. CM has informed that under the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link project, the travel time between Sewri in Mumbai and Nhava Sheva area of ​​Raigarh district will be reduced drastically. This bridge is being called the longest sea bridge in the country. This bridge will bring economic growth and development to the areas connected to it. Let us know some of its features.

India’s longest sea bridge

Mumbai Trans Harbor Link is a total 21.8 km long bridge with 6 lanes. Of this, 16.5 km of the bridge is over the sea, and the remaining 5.5 km is on land. It is also being called the longest sea bridge of India. The bridge will have interchanges at Sewri, Shivaji Nagar, Jassi and Chirle on National Highway 4B at the Navi Mumbai end. It will also connect to the main Mumbai Pune Expressway, which connects the two largest cities of the state.

Delay in construction due to Covid

The construction of Mumbai Trans Harbor Link Bridge started in the year 2018. The construction time of this bridge was up to 4.5 years. However, due to the Corona pandemic, the project was delayed by 8 months in completion. The inauguration of this bridge was earlier proposed on 25th December but it could not happen. According to the information, this bridge has passed all the capacity tests and is ready to be opened for vehicular traffic.

How much toll will be charged?

According to MMRDA, the Official Development Assistance Loan has been provided by the International Cooperation Agency for the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link. The decision on toll on this bridge will be taken by the state government. According to the report, MMRDA has proposed a toll of ₹500 but it can be reduced in view of the election season.
