Sharmistha Mukherjee had a special conversation with India TV
Everyone is aware of the name of powerful leader of Congress Party and former President of the country, Pranab Mukherjee. Pranab Mukherjee had written a diary, on which his daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee prepared a book. There is discussion everywhere about this book, on which India TV had a special conversation with Sharmistha Mukherjee. During this conversation, Sharmistha Mukherjee said that my father had an old habit of writing a diary. All these people knew. My father was President for 5 years, but before that he had a long political career in which he worked under many Prime Ministers and then after becoming President, he got a chance to work with PM Narendra Modi. She said that my father had kept only one condition that I would read this diary only when he is no more in this world. Citing the diary, he said that Indira Gandhi was my father’s mentor. Regarding PM Modi, he said that he believed that PM Modi has tremendous ability to understand the pulse of the people.
PM Narendra Modi used to touch Pranab Mukherjee’s feet
Quoting his father, he said that according to my father, after Indira Gandhi, only Narendra Modi has shown this ability. PM Narendra Modi’s political understanding is very sharp and he is an amazing politician. Sharmistha said in this conversation that the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is nationalist. I don’t think any questions should be raised on this. Referring to an incident, he said that when PM Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, my father was the President. But whenever PM Modi met Pranab Mukherjee personally, he used to touch his feet. PM Modi knew Pranab Mukherjee for a long time and both of them used to collide during morning walks in Delhi and he used to touch Pranab Mukherjee’s feet every day. There is an official meeting between the Prime Minister and the President. However, even during this period, despite becoming the Prime Minister, PM Modi used to touch the feet of Pranab Mukherjee. When he came to our house after winning the elections in 2019, he touched my father’s feet and took blessings.
Sonia Gandhi did not want Pranab Mukherjee to become Prime Minister
Sharmistha Mukherjee further said that according to the diary, father Pranab Mukherjee wrote that when Narendra Modi came to meet him before taking oath as the Prime Minister, he said that the ideologies of both of us are different. I will not interfere in the running of the government, but if you need cooperation, I will fully cooperate with you. He said that PM Modi gave me this information. PM Narendra Modi said that it is a big thing for me for my grandfather to say this. Pranab da’s daughter said that both the Prime Minister and the President had different ideologies, but there remained a cooperative and good relationship between the two. In response to another question, he said that Pranab da knew very well that Sonia Gandhi would not make him the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh would be made the Prime Minister in his place.
