Rescue team taking out workers from Silkyara Tunnel
New Delhi: Workers trapped in Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi were successfully rescued after 17 days. All the workers have been taken out of the tunnel and are currently kept under medical observation. Politicians have also expressed happiness after this operation. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that all the agencies of India, the government of Uttarakhand, the local people and all the people have worked hard day and night, especially under the guidance of the PMO. After that this success has been achieved. Best wishes to all those who lost their lives. I express my gratitude to all the agencies and all the engineers who did the work in this. We are also going to audit the tunnel.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on social media platform The nation salutes their (workers) courage for facing such challenging conditions for so long in the tunnel. My heartfelt gratitude to all those people and agencies who have worked tirelessly to save the lives of our fellow citizens.
While Uttarakhand’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “I thank all the employees, experts, scientists, Indian institutions engaged in this entire operation. PM Modi was in constant touch with me and was taking updates on the rescue operation. Gave me the responsibility of saving everyone safely by any means. Without his support it would not have been possible. He just spoke to me and directed that medical check-up of everyone be done. And arrangements should be made to take them to their homes.
