Uttarakhand government is soon going to implement Uniform Civil Code, preparations for which have been completed. The expert committee formed to implement UCC will submit its draft report to the government at 11 am today. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that we have made all the preparations and will implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state by bringing a bill in the upcoming assembly session. Let us tell you that the committee constituted under the chairmanship of retired judge Ranjana Prakash Desai has prepared the draft report of UCC. It will be handed over to the Dhami government today.
Bill on UCC will be passed in the assembly session
In this draft, there is talk of making a law which will be equally applicable to all religions in matters related to marriage, divorce, property, caste. Let us tell you that implementing Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand is a priority of the Dhami government. Now rapid steps are being taken in this direction. After the draft was submitted today, a 4-day special session of the Uttarakhand State Assembly has been called from February 5 to pass the bill on UCC. This draft will also be discussed in the state cabinet before presenting it as a bill in the Assembly.
UCC is one of the main promises of BJP
It is noteworthy that making an Act on UCC and implementing it in the state was one of the major promises made by the BJP to the public during the 2022 assembly elections. BJP, which came into existence in the year 2000, had created a history by registering victory for the second consecutive time in Uttarakhand and the Chief Minister said that the people have given their blessings to this resolution expressed by them. In the first meeting of the Cabinet immediately after the formation of the government in March 2022, the formation of an expert committee to prepare the draft UCC was approved.
