Protest against CAA in Kerala

The notification of Citizenship (Amendment) Act CAA has been issued by the Government of India last Monday evening. After the implementation of CAA, protests have started in Kerala since Monday night. Congress’ youth wing NSUI protested against CAA by stopping trains at Kochi and Thrissur railway stations. However, the police removed all these protesters from the trek. At the same time, DYFI, the youth wing of the ruling CPM, conducted a protest march in Kozhikode and supporters of the Fraternity Party also suddenly protested in Kozhikode. On this, the police used mild force and took the protesters into custody.

‘Will protest together against the Communal Division Act’

Apart from this, workers of Youth League, the youth wing of IUML, protested against CAA in Kasaragod. Meanwhile, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan issued a statement saying that the Citizenship Amendment Act 2024 i.e. CAA will not be implemented in the state. Kerala CM strongly criticized this and said that the state will together oppose the communal division act.

Where will CAA not be implemented in North Eastern states?

At the same time, according to PTI report, CAA will not be implemented in most of the tribal areas of North Eastern states. According to the information, the CAA law will not be implemented in all those northeastern states where people living in other parts of the country need ‘Inner Line Permit’ (ILP) to travel.

ILP is applicable in these states

For information, let us tell you that ILP is applicable in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur. Officials quoted the rules as saying that tribal areas where autonomous councils have been formed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution have also been kept out of the purview of the CAA. Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura have such autonomous councils.
