The controversy regarding Gyanvapi complex in Kashi has increased further. The news came that eight statues were installed in the basement of Vyas ji present in the Gyanvapi complex. Ten idols were found in the survey of Gyanvapi. ASI had kept these idols in the treasury. After the court’s decision, eight of these idols were taken out of the treasury and returned to Vyas ji’s basement. Now their proper worship, offering and aarti is being done. But there is a lot of resentment among Muslim organizations regarding what is happening in Kashi. The Maulanas of organizations like Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami clearly said that they have reached a compromise in Ayodhya, have taken a bitter sip, and will not tolerate it anymore. Muslim scholars like Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Maulana Saifullah Rahmani, Malik Mohtasim and Kamal Farooqui said that now they do not even trust the court’s decisions because the courts are giving unilateral decisions. If this continues, the atmosphere of the country will deteriorate.

However, in the meantime, an appeal was also made in the High Court on behalf of the Anjuman Etanjamia Committee, a demand was made to stay the decision of the Varanasi Court, but at present no relief was received from the High Court. The High Court will now hear this case on 6 February. The Hindu side has called it a legal victory, but the question is whether this issue, entangled between faith and law, will again increase the distance between Hindus and Muslims in the country and will Maulanas, leaders of Muslim organizations and leaders of political parties have any say in this matter? I am adding fuel to the fire. On Friday, leaders of Muslim organizations like Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami-e-Hind raised questions on the court’s decision, termed the Varanasi District Judge’s order as partisan and targeted the Modi government. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani said that what is happening in the country now is only because of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Ayodhya dispute. Madani said that if such decisions are to be taken now then the law books should be set on fire. Malik Mohtashim, vice president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said that the bureaucracy, judiciary and the entire system of the country are working on the instructions of the government, the patience of Muslims is breaking, now the time is not far when Muslims will not even listen to their leaders. Will hear, if this happens then the country will suffer a lot.

Maulana Mahmood Madani said that unilateral decisions are being taken in the courts, this system of ‘whose stick is his buffalo’ is not right. Because the stick remains the same but the hands of those using the stick change. The resentment among the Maulanas over the manner in which the puja started in the basement of the Gyanvapi Mosque can be understood. They also have many people who are aggressive and it will be difficult to convince them. But the matter is before the High Court. The hearing is to be held on 6 February. Before that, it is not right to say that both the bureaucracy and the judiciary are under pressure from the government. Because a case related to Gyanvapi had gone to the Supreme Court earlier also. The Muslim side got relief from the Supreme Court. The toilet was sealed. There was a ban on the investigation of the Shivalinga-like figure found in the bathroom. That’s why I think anyone should think a hundred times before questioning the justice system. I was surprised that even moderate people like Maulana Mahmood Madani have used very strong language. And Owaisi even tried to drag Prime Minister Modi into this matter. I think such things will further increase the problem. Yesterday also I had said that this dispute needs to be resolved through mutual dialogue, restraint and prudence. (Rajat Sharma)
