All 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel in Silkyara, Uttarkashi for 17 days were rescued safely on Tuesday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted everyone’s spirit after the success of this operation. Modi wrote in tweeting – ‘The success of the rescue operation is going to make everyone emotional. I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. I also want to salute the spirit of all the people associated with this rescue operation. His bravery and determination have given new life to our labor brothers. Everyone involved in this mission has set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork. Late at night, Modi spoke to these workers on phone and heard their plight. All these workers have been kept in AIIMS, Rishikesh. Although all are healthy, but as per the protocol, their health will be monitored by doctors for the next 48 hours. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the hospital on Wednesday and gave a check of Rs 1 lakh each to each laborer on behalf of the state government. All these workers will be allowed to stay with their families for a month, and during that time they will receive their salaries.

On the morning of Diwali, a part of the Silkyara Tunnel collapsed due to which 41 laborers from 8 states were trapped. The whole country was praying for him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself was monitoring the rescue operation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present on the spot. Many ministers were put on duty. Army, NDRF, SDRF, BRO along with many private companies and experts from five countries were engaged day and night in the rescue operation for 17 days continuously. There were many obstacles and ultimately life won. After 17 days, all the workers took a sigh of relief in the open air and met their families. The biggest thing is that the work which all the big machines of the world could not do, the problems which the latest technology failed to fight, got rid of those problems by 12 rat miners who dug by hand. The happiness and feeling of satisfaction on the face of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami clearly shows how big a battle he has won.

Dhami said that for 17 days, Prime Minister Modi was calling twice a day every morning and evening, taking complete updates of the rescue operation and also giving necessary instructions. Union Minister of State for Road Transport, retired General VK Singh was continuously camping at the spot for 17 days. The Silkyara Tunnel in which the accident took place is being built under the Chardham Project. The work was being done under the Ministry of Road Transport. Immediately after the success of the mission, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his happiness. Gadkari said that whatever had to happen has happened, now his effort will be to conduct a scientific study of the entire project again and ensure that such an accident does not happen in future.

This operation was a mission that decided the life and death of 41 Indians. The prayers of the whole of India were applied, the entire system was deployed, all the government power was deployed and after a long battle of 17 days, life finally won. All 41 laborers were taken out safely after breaking the mountain and this news brought happiness on the face of every Indian. The success of this mission is proof that when the entire country works together with full dedication in a mission, no matter how big the problem is, it can be solved. Army, Air Force, NDRF, SDRF, BRO, Railways, ONGC, experts from five countries all worked together day and night. And the biggest thing is that when America’s big machines failed even after reaching close, our rat miners came in handy. The old indigenous method of hand power came in handy. Due to everyone’s hard work the operation was completed. But the kind of politics that took place on this accident in these 17 days is sad. Many Congress leaders made the 41 laborers fighting to the death a means of attack on Modi. Congress leaders also wrote on Twitter on Tuesday morning that 41 laborers are trapped in the tunnel, Modi is not concerned about them, Modi is busy in election campaign, but now that all the laborers have come out safely, the Congress leaders should not worry about the government. The campaign should be praised. I feel that in times of trouble when people’s lives are at stake and efforts are being made to save them, petty politics is not right. The people of the country will not like this at all. (Rajat Sharma)
