Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has been expelled from the Lok Sabha in the case of asking questions about taking bribe. Mahua Moitra’s Lok Sabha membership has been taken away. The Ethics Committee report was presented in the Lok Sabha at 12 noon on Friday, discussion on the report began at 2 o’clock and at 3 o’clock Mahua Moitra was expelled from the membership of the Lok Sabha. The Ethics Committee considered Mahua’s conduct to be unethical, indecent and criminal. The committee said that considering the kind of crime Mahua has committed, the committee recommends the expulsion of Mahua from the Lok Sabha. Mahua Moitra’s troubles are not over yet as the Ethics Committee has also recommended in its report that the government should conduct a thorough and timely investigation into the conduct of Mahua Moitra. The opposition parties opposed the action against Mahua with full force. Congress was seen standing strongly with Trinamool Congress and today Trinamool Congress was seen standing with Mahua for the first time. Congress leaders said why is the government in a hurry to take action against Mahua? The report can be discussed even after two days. Trinamool Congress leaders argued for giving Mahua a chance to defend herself in the House. Some leaders raised questions on the Ethics Committee report itself. Said that the Ethics Committee has the right only to investigate, not to sentence. The committee has violated its jurisdiction by asking for snatching the membership. But all these arguments proved useless. Even before voting took place in the House, MPs from opposition parties walked out. Along with Trinamool Congress, leaders of other parties like Congress, JDU, RJD, Samajwadi Party came out of the House along with Mahua Moitra. Big Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were seen standing behind Mahua Moitra. Since Mahua did not get a chance to speak in the House, Mahua read the same speech outside the House which she had brought to read in the Lok Sabha.

Mahua said that there is neither any evidence against him, nor any witness against him, nor has he taken any money from anyone, nor has any money or gift been recovered. Even after this, he was sentenced only because he had shared his log-in ID and password of the Parliament website with someone. Mahua Moitra said that this decision of the committee is another proof of bulldozing the opposition, knocking down the opposition. In Kurseong, West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Mahua has become a victim of vendetta politics, Trinamool Congress is with her and the fight for justice for Mahua will be fought along with the entire opposition. Mamta said that action against Mahua is murder of democracy, now India Alliance will fight this battle together. When Mahua Moitra reached Parliament in the morning, she read Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s poem – ‘When destruction overshadows man, conscience dies first.’

In my view, it is unfortunate that any MP has to be expelled from the membership of Parliament, but Mahua Moitra left no option with her behavior. Mahua case was an open and shut case. There was no doubt of any kind in this. Mahua himself admitted that he gave the login password of the Parliament website to Darshan Hiranandani. Darshan Hiranandani sent questions from his login. Darshan Hiranandani admitted that he asked questions through Mahua Moitra. Hiranandani and Adani are business competitors. Mahua asked 61 questions in Parliament, out of which 50 questions were on topics where Hiranandani’s business interests conflict with Adani. Mahua got Hiranandani to draft questions against Adani’s companies. Hiranandani bore the expenses of Mahua’s foreign trips, hotel bills, parties, gave expensive gifts to Mahua, after this what is left for investigation and rescue? Nevertheless the committee investigated, recorded everyone’s statements and even gave a chance to Mahua. In the meeting, Mahua accused the Chairman of bias and when on the basis of facts it was decided to throw Mahua out of the House, Mahua said that he was having a fight with the lawyer who complained. The political impact of the action against Mahua was that during the assembly elections of five states, the opposition which seemed scattered, cracks in the alliance of opposition parties, the punishment of Mahua brought all the leaders of that front together again. done. From Sonia Gandhi to JDU, RJD and Samajwadi Party leaders were also seen standing behind Mahua. Although everyone said that Mahua was not given a chance to defend herself, she should have been given a chance to speak, action against Mahua should not have been so swift, but no one said that Mahua was innocent. Since the issue is of corruption, it will be difficult for the leaders standing in support of Mamata and Mahua to answer in this matter. However, Congress’s troubles are going to increase on the issue of corruption as the Income Tax Department has recovered Rs 300 crore in cash from the locations of Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand.
