Court gave permission to sign
A Delhi court has allowed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh to sign documents for re-nomination for Rajya Sabha. At the same time, Sanjay Singh has moved the Delhi High Court on Thursday for bail in the Delhi liquor scam case. Let us tell you that on October 4 last year, ED had arrested Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case. Since then Sanjay Singh has not got bail.
The case against Sanjay Singh is true – Court
On December 22 last year, the trial court had rejected Sanjay Singh’s bail. The court had said that prima facie it believes that the case against him is genuine. The evidence points to their involvement in the alleged crime of money laundering. There are reasonable grounds to believe that Sanjay Singh is guilty of the alleged offense of money laundering.
What are ED’s allegations?
The ED has alleged that Sanjay Singh had played a key role in the formulation and implementation of the now defunct Delhi Excise Policy. Some liquor manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers had monetary benefits from this policy. However, Sanjay Singh has been strongly denying this claim.
