ChennaiSanthan, convicted in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, died in a hospital in Chennai. Santhan was released by the Supreme Court two years ago after serving 20 years of jail sentence in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. According to the information, Santhan died of heart attack. Santhan alias T Suthendirraja (55 years) was a Sri Lankan national. In 2022, the Supreme Court had released seven people, including Santhan, after serving more than 20 years of jail sentence in the case of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Sri Perambadur in 1991.

Death due to heart attack at 7.50 in the morning

Santhan died at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai. Santhan was undergoing treatment for “liver failure” in this hospital. Santhan died due to heart attack at 7.50 in the morning.

Santhan’s body will be sent to Sri Lanka

E Theranirajan, dean of Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, said, ‘Santhan suffered cardiac arrest around 4 am on Wednesday, but after CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) procedure, his breathing returned and he was given oxygen and also put on a ventilator. Was. However, Santhan did not respond to the treatment and he died at 7.50 am today. He said, ‘Post mortem will be conducted…Legal arrangements are being made to send the body to Sri Lanka.’ (PTI)
