Chennai: Before the Lok Sabha elections, talks are being held on seat sharing among the Indian alliance. The seat agreement of the main party of the alliance, Congress, was finalized with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. After this, AAP and Congress decided on seats in five states. Now the news has come from South India. In the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, talks have been reached between Congress and DMK.

Puducherry seat also belongs to Congress

Under the agreement between the two parties, Congress will field its candidates on 9 seats in Tamil Nadu. Along with this, Congress Party will also field its candidate on the only Lok Sabha seat of Puducherry. Let us inform that DMK has so far finalized the seat-sharing deal with allies CPI (M), CPI, IUML and KMDK, apart from MDMK and VCK.

DMK also reached agreement with other parties

In the Lok Sabha elections, MDMK, IUML and KMDK (DMK symbol) will get one seat each, while VCK, CPM, CPI will get two seats each. Congress will contest elections from a single seat in Puducherry. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said, “Congress will contest nine seats in Tamil Nadu and one seat in Puducherry. On the remaining seats we will support the candidates of DMK and alliance parties. We will win all the seats in Tamil Nadu.” Along with this he said that Congress and DMK will not separate.

A meeting was held between the leaders of both the parties in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin held a meeting with Congress MPs KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik and former Congress MP Ajoy Kumar at the DMK office in Chennai today. It was only after this meeting that the seat sharing agreement was announced. Earlier in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the DMK-led alliance had achieved a landslide victory by winning 38 out of 39 seats. Congress, which was also part of the alliance, won 8 of the nine seats contested. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could win only one seat.
