Solar storm coming from the Sun, will internet be shut down all over the world? Know how dangerous it is

Thousands of activities take place in space every moment and many times the events taking place in our solar system impact the Earth. At present there is a strong discussion around the world that the internet on earth may be disrupted for several weeks. The reason for this is a storm coming from the sun which will disable the satellites. This storm is known as Solar Storm or Solar Maximum.

NASA had issued a warning that billions of hot plasma emanating from the Sun are moving towards the Earth. This storm has affected the Earth before but it is being claimed that this time its impact will be the strongest.

What is solar storm?

Let us tell you that many explosions take place in the sun all the time. These explosions emit intense heat and radiation. During this, billions of tonnes of solar plasma or solar flare is released which spreads into space. This plasma also reaches the earth and here it takes the form of a storm. A storm of solar plasma containing high levels of radiation. This storm is called solar storm. Its speed can range from 250 kilometers per second to 3000 kilometers per second. This storm consists of charged protons and electromagnetic radiation emanating from the sun which affect the satellites located around the Earth. These radiations are extremely harmful for the earth.

According to ISRO, the sun’s cycle is 11 years and once every 11 years this radiation storm i.e. solar maximum occurs. According to the warning of Indian scientists, a solar storm may occur as early as January 2024.

What will be the impact of solar storm?

1. This radiation affects the upper surface of the earth more.
2. Its effect does not affect the population of the Earth but it does affect the satellites revolving in the Earth’s orbit.
3. Due to ultraviolet rays, the temperature of the earth’s upper surface increases rapidly and the heat increases significantly.
4. Satellites are affected by increasing heat and their lifespan gets reduced.
5. The greater the distance the satellite is from the Earth’s orbit, the greater the impact of this storm.
6. Due to its impact, telecommunication is affected and thus internet, television, net banking i.e. all those tasks which are possible with the help of satellites can be affected for weeks.
