New Delhi: Many times during the Supreme Court hearing, there is a scuffle between the judge and the lawyers. Many times the judges also give a bitter sip of rebuke to the lawyers. But this time the Chief Justice warned a lawyer and even went to the extent of throwing him out of the court. After this the lawyer’s attitude relaxed and he apologized to the CJI.
During the hearing the lawyer spoke loudly to the Chief Justice
In fact, a lawyer spoke loudly to the Chief Justice regarding the listing of a case. The Chief Justice became angry after hearing the loud voice of the lawyer. He reprimanded the lawyer and said – You should talk in a low voice, otherwise I will get you thrown out of the court. CJI told the lawyer- One second, first lower your voice. You are standing in the Supreme Court and expressing your views.
No one has ever talked to me like this – Chief Justice
After this the CJI said that if you think that you can scare the court by speaking loudly, then you are wrong. No one has ever talked to me like this in my 23 years of career. I will not let this happen even in the remaining one year of my career. The Chief Justice told the lawyer – You should know where you are standing. Do you yell at Justice like this every time? After the Chief Justice’s warning, the lawyer immediately apologized and politely presented his views before the court.
CJI is known for discipline in the court
It is noteworthy that Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is known for maintaining discipline in his court. Earlier on October 16, 2023, the CJI had become angry due to a lawyer talking on the phone. He interrupted the lawyer and said – Come here, is this a market? The CJI also asked his staff to collect the lawyer’s mobile phone. Later the lawyer apologized. After this he told the lawyer that this time he is forgiving him, but be careful from now on.
