The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave a big decision while hearing the Gyanvapi Complex case of Varanasi. The Supreme Court has given permission to clean the entire area of ’Vajukhana’ of the mosque complex. Let us tell you that the Hindu side has claimed to have a Shivalinga in this very building. The Hindu side had filed a petition demanding opening of the sealed area of Gyanvapi and immediate cleaning. Accepting the demand of the Hindu side, the Supreme Court has ordered cleaning. The apex court has given permission for cleaning under the supervision of the District Magistrate.

The bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra has given this order on the petition of a woman. In fact, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking permission to worship God in the mosque premises. Also, a demand was made to clean the water tank because there were dead fishes in that tank. This petition was not opposed by the Mosque Management Committee. The Hindu side says that since according to our belief, Shivalinga is present there and Shivalinga needs to be kept away from any kind of dirt or dead creatures. The presence of Shivalinga amidst such filth is going to hurt the sentiments of innumerable Shiva devotees.

The Supreme Court said in its order that the cleaning of the tank should be done under the supervision of the District Collector of Varanasi. Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan appeared in the hearing on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government. He had also demanded cleaning of the toilet on behalf of the government. At the same time, senior lawyer Huzaifa Ahmadi appeared on behalf of the Mosque Committee. The Supreme Court noted that the Anjuman Arrangement Committee of the mosque had also filed a petition in the Varanasi trial court demanding cleaning of the washroom.
