New Delhi: On Thursday, the Narendra Modi government at the Center presented the white paper on the tenure of the UPA government. The white paper was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Now the discussion on this white paper is going on in the Lok Sabha. The discussion was initiated by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. During this, he made a strong attack on the schemes and scams of the UPA government. The Finance Minister said that during his government, new scams came to light every day. There was discussion about scams and embezzlement every day.

Attack on coal scam

The Finance Minister said that during the UPA government, contracts for government schemes were distributed through the back door. Speaking on the coal scam, Sitharaman said that during the UPA government, coal was turned into ash and our government turned coal into diamond. The Finance Minister said that in his government, contracts for coal mines were given to gutka manufacturing companies, but in the Modi government, contracts were given online in a transparent manner.

Let us tell you that on Thursday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released a white paper saying that a fiscal stimulus package issued by the UPA government to deal with the spill-over effects of the 2008 global financial crisis was worse than the problem. The Finance Minister said the UPA government inherited a healthy economy ripe for more reforms. But in its ten years it became non-performing.

Why has the white paper been brought?

The government is bringing a white paper on the economy on the table of the House so that it can be known where we were till 2014 and where we are now. The purpose of this White Paper is to learn lessons from the mismanagement of those years. Let us tell you that the government was formed for the first time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 itself. Before that, there was a UPA coalition government under the leadership of Manmohan Singh for 10 consecutive years i.e. from 2004-14.
