Today, by issuing the notification, the CAA law has been implemented in the entire country. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has made a big announcement that the Citizenship Amendment Act 2024 i.e. CAA will not be implemented in Kerala. The CM’s reaction came after the central government issued a press release announcing that the CAA law has come into force. CM Pinarayi said that Kerala will together oppose the communal division act.

Vijayan criticized CAA

Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the Citizenship Amendment Act as treating Muslim minorities as second-class citizens. The Chief Minister’s Office also issued a press release. According to this, the Central Government has been accused of notifying the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act before the elections to trouble the country. The notification has been issued just before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections. The move is aimed at dividing people, inciting communal sentiments and weakening the basic principles of the Constitution. He also said that this law which divides Indian citizens from equal rights should be unitedly opposed.

“Sangh Parivar’s Hindutva communal agenda”

He further said that this can only be seen as part of the Hindutva communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar. Granting citizenship to non-Muslims who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan on or before 31 December 2014 and denying citizenship only to Muslims is a gross violation of the Constitution. The central government defines Indian citizenship on the basis of religion. This is an open challenge to humanity, the traditions of the country and the people here.

NPR will not be implemented

He further clarified that Kerala was the first assembly to pass a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The Kerala government has announced that NPR will not be implemented in the state. A case was filed in the Supreme Court against the Central Government citing unconstitutionality of CAA and a human chain was formed on the national highway from Manjeshwaram to Parasala. The Sangh Parivar insists that it will implement its communal agenda regardless of public opposition and criticism. The government has repeatedly reiterated that it will not implement the Citizenship Amendment Act in Kerala, which treats Muslim minorities as second-class citizens. That’s still the bottom line. He said that the whole of Kerala will stand together in protest against this communal law.
