New Delhi: Lok Sabha elections are near and political turmoil has increased in the country. Public meetings and rallies of leaders will also start. Earlier, while participating in a program on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that now the time has come to take the country on a new path. He said that the time is favorable to create a ‘New India’. Circumstances and many factors are in our favor.

India will become the world’s third largest economy- PM Modi

The Prime Minister said at the ET Now Global Business Summit that the interim budget of the government presented this year is a step in this direction. He said that this will provide stability and continuity to the country’s economy. Along with this, the Prime Minister said that I guarantee that in the third term of his government, the country’s economy will become the third largest economy in the world.

‘We changed the nature of the economy’

While talking about the white paper presented in the Parliament, the Prime Minister said that it had highlighted the economic challenges under the previous government. It tells us what kind of economy we got and how much we have strengthened that economy by working today. PM Modi said that while previous governments worked to serve political interests, our government worked keeping the national interest supreme. PM Modi said that when I became Prime Minister in 2014 and I saw the condition of the economy, I was surprised. The economy was in bad shape. There was disappointment among global investors. If I had released this data then, it might have sent a wrong signal. It would have been politically expedient for me, but national interest did not allow me to do so.

‘The industry running in the name of poverty has ended since 2014’

PM Modi said that the policies adopted before 2014 were taking the country on the path of poverty. Earlier, the formula for poverty alleviation was debated sitting in AC rooms and the poor remained poor. But after 2014, when the son of poor parents became the Prime Minister, this industry running in the name of poverty came to an end. Now the governance model is moving forward on two streams simultaneously. On the one hand, we are also addressing the challenges that we have inherited from the 20th century. On the other hand, we are also engaged in fulfilling the aspirations of the 21st century. There are many areas in which more work has been done in the last 10 years than was done in the last 70 years.
