This is being considered a big blow to the party before the Lok Sabha elections. Raju has had differences with Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for the last four years. In a strongly worded resignation letter to Reddy, he said the time had come for both of them to free themselves from the ‘perpetually unpleasant relationship’. Raju said, ‘I tender my resignation from the primary active membership of the YSR Congress Party and hope that you (Reddy) will accept it at the earliest or at your convenience.’

2 more MPs have left the party

Of. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju said several of Reddy’s alleged attempts to get him disqualified from parliamentary membership had failed. Before Raju, Machilipatnam MP Balashowri Vallabhaneni, Narasaraopeta MP L. Sri Krishna Deva Rayalu has left the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are to be held in Andhra Pradesh after a few months. Let us tell you that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, YSRCP had won 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state. At the same time, in the assembly elections held in 2019 itself, the party had won 151 out of 175 seats and Jagan Reddy became the Chief Minister for the first time.

Raju has changed many parties

Let us tell you that Raju had left YSRCP once before also. In 2014, after not getting the Lok Sabha ticket, he left YSRCP and joined BJP. After this, he left BJP in 2018 and joined Telugu Desam Party. Later in March 2019, he once again returned home to the party led by Jagan Reddy. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Raju contested from Narsapuram on YSRCP ticket and defeated his nearest rival by more than 31 thousand votes. However, after winning the elections, relations between him and Jagan Reddy had deteriorated.
