Five members of a family, including a newly married couple, were killed when a car collided with a truck parked on the roadside on Wednesday morning in Nandyala district of Andhra Pradesh. The accident occurred on the national highway near Nallagatla in Allagadda mandal. Police said that the accident happened around 5.15 am when the person driving the car did not pay attention to the truck parked on the roadside.
The family was returning after visiting Tirupati temple.
Nandyala District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Raghuveer Reddy said that a family was returning from a temple in Tirupati when it met with an accident at Nallagatla village at 5.15 am on Wednesday. Reddy said, “A truck driver had parked his vehicle on the roadside for some work and as soon as he got down from the truck, a speeding car collided with the truck from behind. The collision was so severe that five people in the car died on the spot.
Wedding on 29th February, reception on 3rd March
The family was a resident of Alwal area of ​​Secunderabad. Balakiran and Kavya, who were married a week earlier, died in the accident. Balakiran married Kavya on February 29 and the reception was held on March 3 at Shameerpet in the city. Balakiran’s mother Manthari Lakshmi, father Manthari Ravinder and younger brother Uday were also killed.
After the accident, police informed the relatives of one of the deceased through their mobile phone and the bodies were sent to a local hospital. The police are registering a case and other legal processes are underway, the officer said.
