Uttarkashi tunnel accident: Priest brought Ganga water to offer to Bokh Nag deity

Priest Rawat Satish Hemwal arrived with Ganga water

Efforts are continuing in Uttarkashi to rescue 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel since November 12. The rescue operation is going on continuously for the last 8 days. Meanwhile, priest Rawat Satish Hemwal has arrived with Ganga water to offer to Bokh Nag Devta mountain range. He has also prayed for the safety of the workers. Satish Hemwal said that food and medicines are being given to the workers. I talked to them through the pipe and everyone is waiting anxiously to come out.

Workers are trapped in the tunnel since the morning of 12th November

Let us tell you that after the landslide on the morning of 12th November, some parts of the tunnel had collapsed. After this accident, 41 workers were trapped behind a huge pile of debris. Since the incident, the rescue operation is being carried out on a war footing. Located about 30 km from district headquarters Uttarkashi and seven hours away from Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, the Silkyara Tunnel is part of the central government’s ambitious ‘Char Dham Evergreen Road Project’.

Prime Minister Modi is taking stock of the situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over phone on Monday to take stock of the ongoing rescue operation to rescue 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel for more than a week. He said that necessary rescue equipment and resources are being made available by the Center and through mutual coordination between central and state agencies and expressed hope that the trapped laborers will be rescued safely. According to a statement issued by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister said it is necessary to maintain the morale of the stranded workers. This is the third time that the Prime Minister spoke to Dhami about the rescue operations of workers trapped in the tunnel.
