When will Bullet Train start running in India?

New Delhi: The first bullet train will soon start running in India. For this, the work of Bullet Train track – 50 km track between Bilimora and Surat in Gujarat will be completed in August 2026. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted on Wednesday as he announced several schemes to improve the country’s rail network and services. Vaishnav also talked about the Kavach system – an indigenously developed warning system to protect against collisions on track, which came into limelight after a horrific accident in Balasore, Odisha in June, in which About 300 people were killed.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also gave an update on the technology – Gajraj system – to prevent collisions between elephants and trains and building more tracks to better connect different parts of the country. The Railway Minister also said that the number of new trains in India has increased compared to before the Corona pandemic, with mail/express services increasing from 1,768 to 2,124 now, and suburban services increasing from 5,626 to 5,774 now. He said the number of passenger trains has increased from 2,792 to 2,856 during the same period. Overall, Railways served 640 crore passengers in 2022/23 and the target for 23/24 is 750 crore.

​Vaishnav posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing the completed bridge in Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Vadodara and Anand districts in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state.

Ashwini Vaishnav’s statement about the Bullet Train comes after her update last week, in which she had said that an important step has been taken for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor, which includes work on 100 km of bridges and 230 km of ferries. Completion of which Bilimora-Surat section is a part.
