New Delhi: The Central Election Commission has announced the schedule of Lok Sabha elections. Now there will be election atmosphere in the country till May. All political parties will compete in the electoral arena to form the next government. This time more than 97 crore voters will take part in voting. With the announcement of the election programme, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force across the country. Now there will be governments in the country, but they will take all the guidelines from the Election Commission. Now paramilitary forces and police forces will be deployed to conduct elections across the country. Elections will be held in seven phases and accordingly the Election Commission has made a plan for the deployment of security forces.

‘Elections will be conducted peacefully without any violence’

Announcing the election programmes, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the Election Commission’s effort is to conduct the elections peacefully without any violence. We have also shown this in the past years. Recently, assembly elections were held in five states. We conducted these elections peacefully. Now this time too it will be our endeavor to conduct these elections without any violence and fighting. The Chief Election Commissioner informed that more than 2100 general, police and expenditure observers are being deployed for the elections. They are the eyes and ears of the Commission that will monitor the conduct of elections free from inducements and intimidation and provide a level playing field for all.

Control room will be active 24 hours in the districts

The Election Commission said that central paramilitary forces will be deployed in the states before voting. Along with this, control room will be active 24 hours in all the districts. Web casting will also be done at booths which are sensitive. With this, now the local police will deposit the weapons in the police stations in their areas. Old history-sheeters will be kept under strict vigil. Vigilance will be increased on international and national borders. Along with this, surveillance will be done through drones in the border areas.

There will be no negligence at all regarding security – Commission

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the force will be deployed according to the phases of voting. Although the security arrangements will remain tight in the entire country, the Commission will pay extra attention in the election districts. The force will be moved forward according to the phases. He said that there will be no negligence at all regarding security and instructions have been given to the responsible officers in this regard.

Let us tell you that during the general elections, the Election Commission sends the number of paramilitary forces to the Home Ministry. On the advice of the Commission, the Home Ministry deploys its personnel in the electoral areas. BSF, ITBP, SSB, CISF, CRPF, local police forces and Home Guards are deployed in these paramilitary forces.
