New Delhi: The Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) 2019 has come into force across the country. Its benefit will be given to those refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who belong to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian religions. Those who took refuge in India before 31 December 2014 will be eligible to acquire Indian citizenship. What is going on in the minds of the people of the country after the implementation of CAA. India TV-CNX has tried to find out.
Will BJP get electoral advantage?
In the opinion poll of India TV-CNX, 62 percent people believe that BJP will get electoral benefit from the implementation of CAA. There are also 24 percent people who said that BJP is not going to get any benefit from it in the elections. Because it will take time to get Indian citizenship and get Voter ID card made. BJP can benefit only when refugees become voters. At the same time, 14 percent people said that they cannot say who will get the benefit and who will not.
CAA’s impact on elections
India TV-CNX’s opinion poll also revealed that 72 people believe that implementation of CAA could lead to polarization. Whereas 20 percent people said that there will be no impact. 6 percent people replied that they cannot say. Whereas two percent people said that this will make Muslims understand PM Modi.
Why should Muslims be afraid of CAA?
Did Muslims get scared after the implementation of CAA? In the opinion poll, 35 percent people believed that due to propaganda, fear had arisen among Muslims. While 32 believe that there is doubt on the intention. At the same time, 21 percent people say that the inflammatory speech created doubt among Muslims. At the same time, 12 percent people gave their answer as ‘Can’t say’.
Who benefits from anti CAA campaign?
In the opinion poll of India TV-CNX, 61 percent people believed that BJP will benefit from the anti-CAA campaign. 7 percent people said that Congress + Left will benefit from this. At the same time, 21 percent people believed that TMC would benefit from this. 8 percent people replied that they cannot say.
