Taking a big decision on Sunday, the Sports Ministry suspended the recently elected new wrestling association under the leadership of Sanjay Singh. He was elected President of the Wrestling Association on Thursday itself. In the elections held for the wrestling association, she got 40 out of 47 votes, while her rival and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Anita Sheoran got only 7 votes. Sanjay Singh is considered close to BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh. Sajay Singh had earlier been the Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association. He was part of the last Executive Council of WFI since 2019.
