Thiruvananthapuram: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had recently invited Congress to participate in the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla. Congress had also thanked the Trust for inviting this historic function, but it seems that the oldest party of Kerala, Indian Union Muslim League, did not like this. Now Muslim League has started putting pressure on Congress not to get trapped in BJP’s ‘agenda’. Let us tell you that IUML is the second largest ally of the Congress-led UDF alliance in Kerala.
‘Congress’s soft Hindutva stance is a big blow’
On Wednesday, its General Secretary PMA Salam warned Congress not to fall into the trap of BJP. Salam said, ‘Before all elections, BJP comes out with some gimmick or the other and this is an agenda to convert our country into a Hindu nation. BJP is trying to create unnecessary tension and the Congress party should not fall into the trap. Samastha Kerala Jamiatul Ulema, a Sunni organization from Kerala, has also strongly criticized the Congress party. This was made clear in its Wednesday editorial, which said that the soft Hindutva stance adopted by the Congress party has dealt a severe blow.
Congress leaders avoided the question of attending the program
The editorial also said, ‘This has been seen in the recent assembly elections in which the Congress faced a huge defeat. CPM and CPI felt that this was a litmus test to transform India into a Hindu Rashtra, so they decided not to attend the ceremony. Similarly, the Congress Party should also adopt a similar stance. On Wednesday, AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal dodged a question on the possibility of the Congress party attending the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple.
