You will get good news soon! Auger machine penetrated debris up to 21 meters, continuous talks with workers

Now more than 5 days have passed since the workers were trapped in the tunnel of Uttarakhand.

Uttarkashi: The rescue operation of workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand for more than 5 days has now gained momentum. According to reports, the new and powerful auger machine in the Silkyara tunnel penetrated 21 meters of debris by Friday morning, raising hopes of the 40 workers trapped inside coming out soon. According to the information received from the Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Center in Silkyara, ‘drilling’ has been done to a distance of 21 meters till 6 am in the debris accumulated in the tunnel.

Know what is the rescue plan for workers

Let us tell you that there is 45 to 60 meters of debris accumulated in the tunnel in which drilling is to be done. The plan is such that by making a path in the debris through drilling, several large pipes of 800 mm and 900 mm diameter will be inserted one after the other in such a way that an alternative tunnel is formed from one side of the debris to the other and the workers can follow it. Come out through. Earlier, drilling in the debris was started with a small auger machine late on Tuesday night, but the work had to be stopped midway due to a landslide and later that auger machine also got damaged.

Continuous talks are being held with the workers

After the failure of the small auger machine, a large, state-of-the-art and powerful American auger machine weighing 25 tons was transported from Delhi to Uttarkashi in two parts through C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Indian Air Force, due to which drilling was started again on Thursday. Officials said that food and drinks are being continuously provided to the workers trapped in the tunnel. He said that apart from this, oxygen, electricity, medicines and water are also being supplied to them through pipes. Continuous talks are going on with the workers and from time to time they are also being made to talk to their families.

‘Many medical teams have been deployed on the spot’

Uttarkashi Chief Medical Officer RCS Panwar said that a 6-bed temporary hospital has been prepared near the tunnel. He said that several medical teams along with 10 ambulances are deployed at the spot so that the workers can be provided immediate medical help when they come out. A portion of the tunnel under construction under the all-weather Chardham Road Project, 270 meters inside the mouth of Silkyara, collapsed on Sunday morning, after which efforts are being made to rescue 40 laborers trapped in it.
