Govardhan Puja has special significance in Hindu religion. On this day Lord Shri Krishna worshiped Govardhan and broke the ego of Lord Indra. Mount Govardhan had protected the Brij residents in difficult times and since then Govardhan has been worshipped. On this day, Lord Shri Krishna is also worshiped along with Govardhan Mountain. Lord Vishnu is happy with this. Although Chhappan Bhog is offered during Govardhan Puja, Annakoot is prepared in homes. Govardhan is offered from Annakut and it is distributed in Prasad. Method of making Annakoot

Different things are added at different places in Annakoot. Some people make Annakoot only with vegetables, while at some places all the grains are mixed and eaten with vegetables or curry. Well, most of the people make Annakoot by mixing vegetables. For this, 2 potatoes, 1 brinjal, half cauliflower, some beans, some radish, 1 carrot, half bottle gourd, 2-3 arbi, 6-7 ladyfinger, 2-3 parwal, 1 capsicum, 1 raw banana, half pumpkin, Take half cup fenugreek, 2 inches ginger, 2-3 green chillies and some green coriander.

Spices used in Annakoot vegetable

4 teaspoon oil

2 pinch asafoetida
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
3/4 teaspoon red chili powder
2 teaspoon mango powder
salt as per taste

Method of making Annakoot

  • To make Annakoot, wash all the vegetables thoroughly and then after the water dries, cut all the vegetables.
  • Peel the bottle gourd and banana and cut them into medium pieces.
  • Put oil in a pan and let it heat well. Now add cumin and asafoetida in it.
  • Now add turmeric powder and coriander powder to it and cook a little. Add green chillies, ginger to it and add all the spices.
  • When the spices are roasted a little, add all the chopped vegetables and continue frying for some time.
  • Now add salt, red chilli powder and cover with 1 cup of water. Let it cook on low flame.
  • When the vegetables are slightly cooked, add tomatoes and cook for some more time.
  • Now add garam masala, mango powder and green coriander and turn off the gas.
  • Delicious and nutritious Annakoot vegetable is ready, which you can eat with roti, puri or rice.
